In response to God's leading, in the mid 1990's the Committee on Church Development of the Presbytery of Whitewater Valley in Indianapolis decided to plant a new church in the Westfield area. The target group was to be young adults, families, and the unchurched. In April of 1998, Eric Lohe was called to be the organizing pastor of this new church development.
Beginning in June of 1998, a diverse group of individuals began meeting to get to know one another, to pray, and to study together - desiring to be faithful to God and to the vision for this church. As the group congregated, the name "CrossRoads Church at Westfield" emerged. It seemed to embody the vision God had for our new church. As people, we face many crossroads throughout our lives and at some point, all must decide if they will follow the teachings of Christ.
CrossRoads Church began meeting weekly for worship at Westfield Intermediate School in September of 1999. We have continued to grow since then, both in number and as people who have chosen to deepen our relationships with Jesus Christ.
Much has happened in our short history, including direct involvement in local ministries in Westfield such as Open Doors, helping to found Student Impact of Westfield (a campus student ministry), mission trips to Mexico, West Virginia and Mississippi, and "Alpha" small groups. Contemporary media-enhanced worship focused on bringing the good news about Christ through drama, media, and music has made CrossRoads a engaging and active community of God's people in Hamilton County.
CrossRoads was chartered as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) on March 7, 2004. Additionally we broke ground on our first facility on October 15, 2006 and had a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on December 13, 2007. Since then, we have continued to cultivate relationships and spiritual growth through inviting others into our church family, engaging in Bible study, creating deep and meaningful friendships, serving in various ministries within CrossRoads, and stepping into the community to serve those around us and around the world.
We have served others right here in central Indiana as well as travelling to Alabama, Iowa, West Virginia, Michigan, Arkansas, Minnesota, Arizona, Utah, Maryland, and Tennessee to care for people there. We've also sent teams to serve in Mexico, Romania, Canada, and Costa Rica. Through a variety of missions, we've also given financially to touch lives in almost every part of the globe.
In 2017 CrossRoads focussed its mission to our local community entitled FOR OUR NEIGHBOR. Four initiatives were launched to serve our local neighbors including 1) adopting our local elementary school, 2) providing big events for our community, 3) serving our neighbors needs including Zumba, Celebrate Recovery, and Free Pet Food Saturdays, and 4) home repairs for 30 local families.
It has been such an exciting journey to get to serve the God we love so much! We invite you to come along with us!
